Officially throwing open its elegant doors for the first time on January 29, 2011, the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana is a lavish work of art in its own right and a feather in the cap among the many fine greater Indianapolis community gathering places.
This lush complex is the cornerstone for the vast new renovations referred to as the Carmel City Center, the downtown Carmel development that is changing the face of this upwardly mobile, beautiful Midwest city. The new City Center is a pedestrian friendly, $300 million attraction in Carmel best described as a “city within a city,” situated only twenty minutes from the downtown sector of the Circle City itself.
The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel is comprised of three discrete performing arts venues, all created with the goal of supporting and fostering the best in fine arts and performance arts from all over Indiana and throughout the United States. The Palladium is the Center’s main focal point, a 154,000-square-foot concert facility destined to be recognized as one of the best in the region.
Available for rental at the Center for the Performing arts is their multipurpose room in the Palladium, an ideal and unique venue for any special celebration. The hall overlooks the famous Monon Greenway and contains luxurious vaulted ceilings over its 1755 square feet space and two terraces. Other generous spaces for public use include three Orchestra Lobbies and two balcony areas.
The Center claims two other theater venues as well as the Palladium: The 500-seat Tarkington Theater and the 200-seat Studio Theater. Both auditoriums are available for rent, and will doubtless become sought-after spaces for community gatherings of all types.
Also the home of the dynamic Michael Feinstein Foundation for the Great American Songbook, Carmel’s Center for the Performing Arts is to be the site of an important collection of musical memorabilia and an authentic slice of Americana.
Juxtaposed to the spiffy new Carmel Arts and Design District, the Carmel Center for the Performing Arts will be a mainstay for culture in Indianapolis and its environs, especially Carmel, for generations to come.
