When Clay Terrace opened in Carmel, Indiana, I was thrilled to have quality shopping right down the street. I had my concerns, of course. Shopping outdoors and a lack of department store anchors were my main issues. But, I’ve decided I actually love it for exactly those reasons — and more! Clay Terrace is gorgeous, and I feel like I’m in a movie every time I walk up and down the brick sidewalks to shop.
Now that it has been here a few years, I can safely say Clay Terrace is the best mall around, even with so many other shopping choices in Indianapolis. But don’t take my word for it — here are 10 photos to prove it!

Roundabouts. Seriously. They make driving through the mall fast and easy. There is only one stoplight on Clay Terrace Boulevard, with the rest of the intersections managed by roundabouts.
I was worried about parking at Clay Terrace, but there are several large lots in multiple areas behind the mall stores plus off-street parking in front. Even during the holiday season, I can find parking near the stores I plan to shop.
If you need a break or have to wait for someone, there are lovely park benches throughout the mall. Not only are the rest areas prettier than other malls, but there seem to be so many more to choose from.
Clay Terrace is home to several restaurants far better than your typical mall food court options. Jimmy Johns, Mitchell’s Fish Market, and Ted’s Montana Grill are popular choices.
They’ve thought of everything. I don’t think I’ve seen hand santizer stations quite like this before. You’ll find one every block or so at the mall directory stations.
Seriously, they left nothing out. Sudden sprinkles trying to ruin your outdoor shopping day? Stop by one of several umbrella stands to stay dry.
You guys, there’s a community theatre. I’ve definitely seen malls with movie theaters before, but a community playhouse is a new one for me. How awesome is that?
And, of course, no mall would be complete without a playground for the kids to stretch their legs during a long day of shopping. A slide, teeter-totter, and rock wall put this one far above the rest.
